Athens 1998

Widespread Panic is delighted to announce the release of Athens 1998, the 16th installment from the band’s live multi-track series. It will be available on streaming and digital on Friday, April 4.

Athens 1998 is the complete recording of the band’s legendary free performance in downtown Athens, GA, on April 18, 1998. This show, which has been called the largest record release party ever, saw an estimated 100,000 fans attend to celebrate the band’s live album Light Fuse, Get Away.

While portions of this show were included in the 2002 DVD release Panic in the Streets, this is the first time the entire performance has been heard. With a brand new mix by the band’s longtime producer, John Keane, Athens 1998 is available now on all major streaming platforms, Bandcamp, and nugs.net.
